WALL OF REMEMBRANCE

You are invited to bring an unframed photo of your deceased loved ones to church, or drop them off at the Parish Office during regular business hours. They will be pinned up on our Wall of Remembrance during November.

ST. EMERIC WOMEN’S CLUB FALL PRAYER BREAKFAST

The Fall Prayer Breakfast will take place on Saturday, November 7th, from 9.a.m. - 12:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall. The theme of the breakfast is "Walking in the Fullness of a Blessing". Guest speaker will be Fr. John Breslin, from St. Michael Catholic Church. Cost is $15. Both men and women are invited. Sandra Mitchell at the Parish Office will take reservations. GET YOUR ST. EMERIC BASEBALL CAP

Baseball caps with the 50th Anniversary logo are now available for $10.00. Mike Gleason started hawking..er..selling them at the Pig Roast. They are in the traditional school colors of red with the embroidery in white. You can pick one up at the Parish Office or mail in a check with your name, and it will be waiting for you at church the following weekend.

ST. EMERIC CHOIR NEEDS YOUR VOICE!

Roxanne Packer is looking for new members to join her music family! There are three levels of singers.

CHILDREN’S CHOIR - boys & girls in grades 1 -8.

CHANCEL CHOIR - high school age through adult. Rehearsals are every Wednesday evening from 7-9 p.m. in the church.

CANTORS - high school age through adult. Cantors are trained to lead the assembly in song at weekend Masses.

ST. VINCENT DE PAUL NEEDS FOOD ITEMS!

Due to the tough economic situation, the St. Vincent de Paul Society finds itself helping more people. There is an urgent need for nonperishable food items, especially string beans, corn, peas, baked beans and fruit. There is a box in the foyer of church, or you can drop any items off at the Parish Office during the week. Please help!

On Tuesday evenings at 7:30 p.m., in the Teachers’ Lounge, a small group meets to discuss the Scripture readings for the next Sunday, and how they apply to our lives. Everyone is welcome to attend. LOCAL CHURCH HAPPENINGS 

COPING WITH THE HOLIDAYS

Holidays are an especially difficult time for those who are dealing with the loss of a loved one. Little Company of Mary Hospital is offering a special evening of support for those who are grieving. You and your family are invited to a presentation by Fr. Jim Heneghan, local pastor and national speaker on grief and loss. It is called Coping with the Holidays and will take place on Wednesday, November 11, from 7:30 - 9:30 p.m. at Café 95 in the hospital. Little Company is located at 2800 W. 95th St., Evergreen Park. There is no fee, but would appreciate a call if you wish to attend. You can call the Pastoral Care Department at (708) 229-5484.

SPIRITUAL REFLECTION

The Little Company of Mary Sisters will host a morning of spiritual reflection. This is in advance of the celebration of Thanksgiving. Rev. Richard N. Fragomenj will discuss “Getting Ready for Thanksgiving and the Theme of Gratitude”. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. for a continental breakfast. The event runs from 9 - 11 a.m., Nov. 14th, in the Potter Physicians’ Building, lower level Meeting Rooms A and B. The Physicians’ Building is located at 2850 W. 95th St., Evergreen Park. FREE BLACKWOOD BROTHERS CONCERT

ST. AGNES COLLECTION DRIVE

St. Agnes Parish & Catholic School is sponsoring a collection drive for disposable diapers for ages 6 months to toddlers. Peanut butter and jelly are also being collected. These are the items that are most in demand by the local agencies. The collection is taking place on Saturday, November 7th; from 8 - 11 a.m. St. Agnes is located at 1501 Chicago Rd., Chicago Heights. For more information, call (708) 709- 2092.

WOMEN - INTERESTED IN JOINING THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS AUXILIARY?

Nina Council Ladies’ Auxiliary, Knights of Columbus 3602 is hosting a Corporate Communion on Sunday, November 8th, 11a.m. Mass, at St. Mary’s in Park Forest. Any Catholic woman over the age of 18 can join the Auxiliary. You do not need to be married to a Knight! St. Mary’s is located at 227 Monee Road. CLASSICAL CONCERT

St. Lawrence O’Toole Music Ministry will sponsor A CLASSICAL CONCERT on Saturday, November 14th at 6:30 p.m. in the church. DONATING YOUR SHOES                 

Christ Lutheran Church in Orland Park is asking for gently worn shoes. They will be given to the organization, Soles4Souls Inc., a local organization that cleans the shoes and sends them to those who need them all over the world. They can be dropped off at the church by November 13th from 8 a.m. - noon Sundays; and from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. weekdays. The Office for University Mission and Heritage of St. Xavier University hosts a lecture by Dr. Paul Green, WGN Radio 720 political news analyst and Professor of History at Roosevelt University. Dr. Green will speak on the tradeoffs between who wins and who loses when the government collects…or fails to collect…and disburses revenue. BONE OF MY BONE AND FLESH OF MY FLESH: UNCOVERING THE BEAUTY OF THE STRANGER

The Office for University Mission and Heritage of St. Xavier University hosts a lecture by Dr. Patrick McCormick, columnist for U.S. Catholic and Professor of Religious Studies at Gonzaga University. Dr. McCormick will speak on the limits we impose on ourselves through our religious traditions and what we can learn if we treat each other as “bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh”. ST. GEORGE PARISH MISSION

The theme of this year’s mission at St. George is “Signed and Sealed With the Cross”. Fr. Albert Hasse, O.F.M. will be the presenter. He has authored four books, and is a regular on Relevant Radio. Reconciliation and Mass will also be celebrated during this mission. Before the mission starts, there will be hospitality. Monday night is soup night, while on Tuesday chili will be served. KNOW SOMEONE WHO NEEDS A HOT MEAL?

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago sponsors a weekly supper for anyone experiencing financial problems or homelessness on Tuesdays at 6 p.m. at St. Christopher’s Parish. The Tuesday suppers are free and you do not have to be Catholic. They will be held in the school cafeteria, which can be entered from the parish parking lot on 147th St between Kostner and Crawford Aves.. St. Christopher’s is located at 14641 S. JOB SEARCH HELP IN OAK FOREST

New Life Community Church has started weekly job search support groups from 9 - 11:00 a.m., on Wednesdays. The church also will have monthly network meetings featuring guest speakers. They will also make available a state of the art web site with a job search portal. Nexus Employment Solutions, Oak Forest will provide free resume critique and development on Wednesdays. VEHICLE DONATION                 

   Orland Park Christian Reformed Church, 7500 Sycamore Drive, is starting a ‘car ministry’, which will provide reliable vehicles to financially needy candidates. This will aid them in their basic needs and for employment purposes. If you would be interested in donating your vehicle for such a good cause, you will be able to claim a tax deduction on the full private party value of the donated vehicle. This may very well be the only type of ministry of its kind in the area.

UNEMPLOYED OR IN A CAREER TRANSITION

H.O.P.E. ( Helping Our Parishioners toward Employment) Employment Support Ministry begins their fourth year of support, guidance, fellowship, and information for the employed, unemployed, and those in career transition. It is open to all faiths and denominations. HOPE Ministry leaders review and critique resumes, offer job search and interview tips, and pass along job leads. INFANT JESUS OF PRAGUE HEALING MASS

ST. STEPHEN, DEACON & MARTYR
