THE SHRINE OF CHRIST’S PASSION

The Shrine of Christ’s Passion is now full completed in St. John, Indiana. It consists of an interactive half mile trail depicting the Last Supper, the Garden of Gethsemane, and each Station of the Cross. They are done with life size bronze statues, and a listening station where you can hear broadcaster Bill Kurtis. You will hear a description of the scene, and then a prayer. THE LAST LECTURE

Some of you may already be familiar with this story. Randy Pausch, a professor at Carnegie-Mellon University, recently partook in a tradition at the University called, 'The Last Lecture'.  A professor is supposed to 'pretend' he can only give one more lecture. About what would he or she speak? Randy spoke about achieving your childhood dreams. One thing makes this lecture extra special. He is dying of pancreatic cancer. He has to give up teaching. It is his last lecture. A book has come out about this last lecture, and become #1. This is well worth the 10 minutes or so it takes to look at this video. It will make you look at your life a bit differently. You'll want to check this out. Click here.  ADDENDUM--Randy passed away July 25, 2008. God Bless You, Randy, and your family.

A TRAGEDY REMEMBERED

December 1, 2008, marked the 50th anniversary of the Our Lady of the Angels School fire. At approximately 2:30 p.m., right before dismissal, a fire broke out at the school, killing 92 children and 3 BVM nuns.
For news articles, pictures, history.. just about anything you would want to know about that tragic fire, please click here. (Note: The links on that page aren't as clear as some of the hyperlinks, so look for them carefully. The website has an awful lot of information. The black line has links with white wording, and the bottom of the page has FAQ'S, what's New, & About this site. A word of caution..if you click on the photos, some are graphic.)

ARE YOU A GRADUATE OF THE CHICAGO PUBLIC SCHOOLS?

As some of you might have seen in the local news recently, the Chicago Public School system has put their database on the internet. All the elementary, middle and high schools and their graduates are listed in this database from 1873 thru 1973. It has pictures of all the schools and interesting facts. You can get in touch with others or use for geneology purposes. Check it out at CPSalumni.org.
